What Composed Of does

Composed Of is a Chrome extension that analyzes fabric composition information on supported online fashion store pages and highlights products that match your material preferences.

Data we process

• Supported page URLs: The extension reads supported page and product URLs so it can detect stores, fetch product detail pages for analysis, key cached results, and keep a local list of recently analyzed products.
• Product content: The extension reads publicly visible product information such as product names, prices, descriptions, images, links, and material/composition text from supported store pages.
• Your settings: Your material preferences and extension settings are stored in Chrome storage in your browser profile so the extension can apply your filters and UI choices.
• Optional AI key: If you choose to enable the AI fallback, your Anthropic API key is stored locally in your browser profile and used only to call Anthropic directly from the extension.

Claude API data flow

1. When you open a supported listing or product page, the extension detects the store and reads the publicly visible product data it needs to analyze materials.
2. For some stores, the extension can extract composition data directly from the page or from structured product data without calling an AI model.
3. When direct extraction is not enough and you have configured the optional AI fallback, the extension fetches the supported product page URL, extracts the relevant product text in the browser, and sends that extracted product text to Anthropic Claude over HTTPS for structured material extraction.
4. The returned extraction result is then shown in the extension UI and stored locally in your browser cache/history so the same product does not need to be analyzed again immediately.

Composed Of does not operate its own backend for this flow. If you enable AI extraction, the third-party network call is the direct request from the extension to Anthropic using the API key you configured locally.

What we store in your browser

• IndexedDB cache: Cached extraction results keyed by normalized product URL, typically retained for up to 7 days to reduce repeat analysis.
• IndexedDB history: A local recently analyzed list of product URLs, names, images, prices, stores, and extracted material results so you can revisit analyzed products in the sidebar.
• Chrome storage: Your preferences, theme choice, onboarding state, notification setting, optional Anthropic API key, cache version metadata, and temporary extension state such as saved page snapshots.

This data stays in your browser profile unless Chrome sync is enabled for settings that use Chrome sync storage.

Third-party services

Anthropic Claude API: When AI extraction is needed and you have configured the optional AI fallback, Composed Of sends extracted product text from the analyzed product page to Anthropic's API for material extraction. This data is processed according to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

Affiliate links: When you click on product links through the extension, the URL may include affiliate tracking parameters. This helps support the extension's development at no extra cost to you. Affiliate networks may set their own cookies per their respective privacy policies.

What we do not collect

• No name, email address, shipping address, payment details, or other directly identifying personal information.
• No account credentials from the stores you browse.
• No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking operated by Composed Of.
• No general browsing history beyond the supported product and listing pages the extension analyzes and stores locally for cache/history purposes.
• No sale of your data to third parties.

Composed Of does not sell data and does not store your browsing data on servers controlled by Composed Of.

Permissions

• storage: Saves your preferences, extension settings, and optional AI fallback key in Chrome storage.
• activeTab: Inspects the current tab when you open the popup and gives you page-specific controls without broad global tab access.
• scripting: Injects packaged scripts and CSS on supported retailer pages.
• sidePanel: Displays the product analysis sidebar.
• alarms: Periodically cleans cached data.
• contextMenus: Offers quick actions from the browser context menu.
• notifications: Optionally shows analysis notifications.
• Host permissions: Runs only on supported HTTPS store domains bundled with the extension so it can read supported product pages and show material results.

Your control

• Toggle the extension on or off at any time via the popup.
• Clear cached data and local history from the extension UI or by removing the extension.
• Change or reset your preferences at any time.
• Uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data.

Children's privacy

Composed Of does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The extension processes only publicly available product information from retail websites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
